San Diego Wedding Photography | Daniel + Ruth

San Diego wedding photography becomes even more fun when you’re shooting great people. This was exactly the case with Daniel and Ruth.

The day started at the US Grant Hotel, where the couple exchanged the traditional wedding day gifts. You can tell that Daniel loved the cigar box Ruth gave him. What made the mood even lighter was the presence of their best friends. You can tell that this was going to be an awesome day for a wedding.

Balboa Park was the perfect venue for the couple’s first look. The shots were emotional! But the vibe between the couple remained relaxed all throughout. Daniel was even cracking joke after joke. This great mood was evident in the striking couple’s portraits we got that day.

We moved to Pacific Beach after that. This time, the bridal party joined in the fun. There were shots underneath the pier, and in front of a graffiti wall. It was a dream San Diego wedding photography shoot.

This was all a pleasant surprise for Daniel, to be honest. He had already expressed concern over how he thought he would look in the photos. Ruth knew that the camera loved her. Daniel was not as optimistic at first. But with the way our portrait session turned out, Daniel worried over nothing. He was able to pull off the different vibes needed. His emotions were very evident in each shot. The way he interacted with Ruth and the camera will make you think that he’s a professional.

The ceremony took place at the First Methodist Church. In my honest opinion, this is the most beautiful church in San Diego for weddings. Daniel and Ruth cried together, sang together, laughed together. It was beautiful. To end the ceremony right, Daniel carried Ruth in his arms as he walked along the aisle.

Now, the party begins. We headed to Luce Loft for the reception. The decorations were astounding. The cake was made by Ruth’s brother, David. There were long tables with white cloths, and the golden plates gave the entire place a sophisticated feel.

We sneaked out for a bit before it got dark. I had fun taking shots of the couple with the catering truck as the background. The photos jumped from serious to fun, making it evident that they were having the time of their lives. A wall that said “give love” was the perfect end to this spontaneous shoot.

They had a really fun photo booth, that was filled with their guests the entire evening. But, don’t take my word for it, click here to check it out.

There was dancing and a few funny speeches. I can say that it was both traditional and unique at the same time. And that’s what made me amazingly thankful that I was given the honor to do this for Daniel and Ruth. It had everything that makes a San Diego wedding photography session more than just a job or project. It was all heart, all love.
